Yearn to Return
This is what the LORD of Heaven’s Armies says: “Turn from your evil ways, and stop all your evil practices
(Zechariah 1:4 (NLT)”.
Have you felt a stirring within you to come closer to God? Are you aware that the Holy Spirit is God, and it is He who is doing the stirring? The Lord in Heaven moves in seasons and appointed times. He makes all things beautiful in His time. If you are crying out for something better, why not cry out for something new! Now is the time to return to the Lord as He is waiting to return to you. He waits to bestow His mercy on you. He can only do that when you exalt Him over yourself. Humble yourself and draw close to Him. Put yourself under his Hand so He will in due time exalt and restore you.
As we enter the crispness of Autumn, let it remind us of our need to Fall to our knees in repentance. We now enjoy a season of chilly mornings. The change of the harsh summer sun to the slanting golden light of Autumn refreshes our souls. Fall is a time to recalibrate, to meditate, and enquire of the Lord. Where do you tend to stray? How far are you from the Lord? What are His purposes for your life? Ask yourself, “Have I honestly surrendered all?”
The prophet Isaiah says it so well (Is.30:15 NKJV) “In returning and rest, you shall be saved; In quietness and confidence shall be your strength.” Don’t be afraid. Do not be impulsive. Instead, quiet yourself and draw near to your invisible Creator, the One who knows you better than anyone. Speak His name. Talk to Him from your heart. Wait on Him to respond. Return, and He will return to you.
