The Darkest Before the Dawn

May you be filled with joy, 12 always thanking the Father… you who live in the light (Col. 1:11-12).

In the middle of the night, light is hard to find. Don’t get discouraged during troubled times because things often get worse before they get better. As we approach, Easter remember the people’s sorrow when Jesus died on the cross. The day was dark when the grave consumed his body for three days. And yet up from the grave, He arose!

When the Lord said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand toward the sky, that there may be darkness over the land of Egypt, even a darkness which may be felt (Ex.10:22-23),” he obeyed. It was terrible for the Egyptians because they could not see one another or rise from their homes for three days. And yet in Goshen where God’s people lived, there was light. They were free to move about and enjoy God’s sun.

Jesus has a good word for all that know Him. He says, “Let not your heart be troubled (John 14:1).” He also tells us, “Be of good cheer for I have overcome the world (John 16:33).” To be a friend of the world is to be an enemy of God. Align yourself with God, your Father, because He is light. The stars come out at night! You are the only light the world has. Are you shining so all can see that our hope is in the Lord? Out of every trouble, He will deliver us.
