Joy Is Knowing Jesus Values You

Just so, I tell you, there is joy before the angels of God over one sinner who repents (Luke 15:10).

What if you knew God valued you? Would you value yourself more? Would you sin less and be less offended over what people say and do around you? Could you take correction with ease and have the confidence that you are growing more and more into the likeness of Christ.

Another way of saying, “I love you” is “I value you.” If something is valuable, you will protect it. You will not harm or take it for granted. People have no problem valuing things or experiences. Many will suffer whatever inconvenience necessary to possess something. Folks plunge themselves into debt for things they cannot afford. Who hasn’t heard of someone waiting in line overnight for a concert ticket?

Jesus values you. At the cross, He laid down His life, baring your shame and taking the punishment for your sins. Jesus lives to pray continually for you. He knew you before you were born. There is nothing that can separate you from His love.

If you know Jesus values you, the way you think about yourself will change. You will repent, forsaking your thoughts for His. You will appreciate yourself knowing Christ paid the highest price to possess you. And you will value the Lord by living your life for the One who gave His life for you.
