Are You Trapped?

In Proverbs 29:25, we read, “The fear of man brings a snare, but he who trusts in the LORD will be exalted.” Who are you afraid of in your life? You may not have a specific person or name in mind, but do you fear man in a general sense? Do you fear rejection, or are you anxious about what people think about you? Are you fearful of speaking the truth of God’s word because of the inevitable backlash you will receive? Do you have difficulty holding the line or keeping your boundaries with specific people for fear they may not like you? Does confronting the lie with the truth terrify you when facing certain people?

Fear is a curse. It is the result of man’s split-up from his Creator Father. If you are living a life of your own, you will operate under fear’s spell. You take matters into your own hands because fear fuels you. You live an arrogant, comfy life, one that is very familiar with control and anger.

On the other hand, you may present yourself as a victim, a little person with a big chip on your shoulder who is a master of manipulation, and people-pleasing. Fear traps your mind and alienates you from God’s love and desire to help you. You live a life of distrust and suspicion rather than trust and safety.

Satan is fearful. Of what is he afraid? He is worried you will discover who God meant you to be. He is terrified that you will put on the new man and arise in the power and authority of a son of God. He shudders to think that you will trust God in every situation in your life, whether it is good or bad to show you the path of righteousness. He does not want God your Father to exalt you. He wants you to think you are a worm so you will behave as one. Worms are under people’s feet. Put the devil of fear under your feet. Surrender your life to Christ, live for Him, and trust Him completely. Fear will no longer hold you in its death grip, and you will inherit all that God has for you.
