No Rules Just Right

Having begun your new life by faith with the Spirit, are you now being perfected and reaching spiritual maturity by the flesh that is, by your own works and efforts to keep the Law (Gal. 3:3)?

Most folks love steak, and Outback Restaurant is a place you can enjoy one. Its motto is “No Rules Just Right.” That slogan challenges convention and sound irreverent, doesn’t it? But is there a way you can see it through another lens, the eye of light instead of darkness. The good news of the Kingdom of God is freedom from rebellion and sin. It’s about liberty to live an authentic life. But so many Christians struggle with “keeping the rules” that they never come to know the intimate love of Christ. You can live a life free from legalism and yet mature into the godly character of God to love and serve others.

Only in Christ do we find a new way of living. His righteousness is the rudder that navigates our life in the Spirit. The holiness we share in Him is one of His doing. No longer are we bound to a set of “do and don’ts” but a love relationship that leads us to do the right thing! As you surrender your will to God, something awesome happens. You will transform into a son of God. He will lead you by His quiet and devoted Holy Spirit. No longer will you live by a set of strict rules of which you judge yourself and others. You will live by only one law, the law of the Spirit of life, which is in Christ Jesus.

Jesus is tenderly calling you saying, “Come to me, you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light. (Matt. 11:28-30).” God the Father wants His children to mature and grow into the likeness of His son Jesus Christ. He wants you to come off of milk and be a meat-eater. Legalism will never make things right for you but knowing Christ will.
