Playing Possum

For everyone looks out for their own interests, not those of Jesus Christ

(Phil. 2:21).

If you ever see a possum rolled over, eyes shut, teeth bared, and stinking up a storm don’t jump to the conclusion that he’s dead. Just walk away and watch for in a while he’ll get up and move along his way. That’s a possum playing possum.

You could be “playing Christian” if you pretend to be dead in Christ and yet live a life of self-interest in lieu of His interests. In Christ, you are a living sacrifice advancing His Kingdom on earth. Dead to sin, your life thrives with purpose according to His will and wishes. The aroma of Christ on you will smell so sweet to some and yet sour to others.

God’ s not playing. Kill the possum in you.
