Goodwill is God’s Will

But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed

(Is. 53:5).

Didn’t the angels announce the birth of Jesus to the shepherds with the words “peace on earth goodwill toward men”? If so where is it? Many agree that there is little peace in today’s world, much less goodwill. Perhaps we misquote what the angels said, and in reality, their announcement was “peace on earth to men of good will.”

Jesus Christ came to redeem and heal us. He desires to sanctify our spirits, souls, and bodies. We have injured others and ourselves by the sins we have committed. From early childhood, the companions of shame and guilt have been with us. The guilt of always missing the mark no matter how hard we try and the shame that says, “you not only made a mistake you are one” is a load too heavy to bear. It breaks us making us ill both inside and out.

To resist looking at your sin and the bitterness you carry toward others who have sinned against you will make you sicker than confronting it. The punishment we deserve Jesus Christ took. All our shame and guilt came on Him for on the cross He gave His all. Have you received His all? The goodwill Jesus has for you is real. Have some compassion towards yourself and fully accept everything that Christ gives. When you do you will stop punishing yourself and start living for Him, knowing the Prince of Peace.
