Hard-Hearted?

…do not harden your hearts… See to it…that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God(Hebrews 3: 8 &12).

What’s the difference between a person who is hardheaded and one who is hard-hearted? To have a hard head means you are stubborn, but it can also mean you are determined not give up. To be hard-hearted is something else altogether. Your heart is the number one indicator of how you will fare in this life. In fact, you are to guard your heart above anything else because it determines the course of your life.

You have to learn to filter things that happen to you through a heart of belief in God’s goodness and love for you. Sounds easy right but it can be complicated at times. The trick is not to let your emotions drown you in fear and doubt. Always believe that the Lord is for you even when things get rocky. Painful past experiences may have hardwired your brain to think the worse. That’s where you have to deal with a hard head. You have to reevaluate those experiences finding the Lord right in the middle of them.

If we love our Father God and live for his purposes whatever we go through He is working it out for our good. Even what we deem as failures God’s redemptive love for us will work it out for our good. We learn things and become very grateful when we guard our hearts against toxic emotions. Our lives become more productive in every aspect knowing that His divine power gives us everything we need in life. If your core is hard, you will not trust God, and you will not be able to hold onto your confidence in Him until the end. You will find yourself in a very dry place still blaming others (in truth blaming God) for how things turned out for you in life.

Take heart if your heart is hard. The Lord is greater than your heart. He will deliver you if you come to him in faith. He can take out your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.
