Unmet Expectations

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. Jer. 29:11 (KJV)

Unmet expectations can leave you feeling let down any time you look forward to something and it just doesn’t work out the way you wanted it. If we realize what is going on we can get over it and the sorrow of it will pass. But if we are not conscious of why we are feeling let down, resentment can cloud our judgment and we may become angry and depressed.

Everyone experiences major disappointments both the pauper and the prince alike. There are seasons of joy and sorrow. The untimely death of a loved one, the moral failures of your own life or those most close to you can leave you feeling short-changed from the life you always dreamed of having. The holidays may give rise to unrealistic or idealistic expectations of family and friends
