But if your eye is evil, your whole body will be full of darkness. Therefore, if the light within you has turned into darkness, how great is that darkness (Matthew 6:23)!"
Keep your eye on the road if you want to stay alive. Keep your eyes on the prize to win. Your eyes are important. You can get by with one, but two is much better unless you're crossed eyed.
Everyone sees life a certain way, and the way you see becomes your path in life. Jesus talked about the importance of having a good eye versus an evil one. If your eye is good, you have a generous spirit, but if your eye is evil, you have a stingy spirit. If you see life as a glass half-empty, you will be ungenerous believing you do not have enough to share. Stinginess far exceeds material things. Are you generous with giving praise, affection, forgiveness and most importantly yourself?
When you open up your eyes in comes the light. The same goes for your heart. If you close your heart to others, you will imprison yourself in darkness. Adverse experiences that you memorialize lock you out of God’s treasure house, His people. When you open your heart to the treasure of Christ, He shows you another path, a different way to see and a different way to be.
