Are You A Liar?

"Keep me from lying to myself; give me the privilege of knowing your instructions."

-Psalms 119:9

Reality is the truth not as we perceive it through our emotions or five senses, but rather how God sees it. Jesus is truth, and He is the embodiment of God’s word. He came to show us the depths of God's love. Whatever your experiences may be or have been, if they seem to contradict God’s love, they do not represent the truth.

If you focus on hurts and rejections, you will receive a false reality fashioned by lies. The lies you've trusted over the years have created bondages in your mind that produce misery in your life. You can overcome the lies you tell yourself by changing the narrative in your mind. Tell yourself that the harm the devil meant for your life God means it for good. Tell yourself that God will work out all things for your good because you love God, and have answered the call to His purposes.

Thoughts influence your emotions. Your emotional highs and lows are not accurate indicators of the reality of any given situation. Emotions frequently change depending on your physical and mental health, your confidence, and even the amount of sleep you’re getting. God’s word is unchangeable. Jesus said, “the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life” (John 6:63). Spirit words are truth, and they always trump toxic thoughts, emotions, and even intellect in interpreting reality in your life.

The devil is a liar, but so are you. King David asked God to keep him from lying to himself. If you ask God to do the same for you, He will. As you meditate on His word and practice it, God will heal your mind and will change how you think about yourself and others. Over time, your life will change because your mind will line up with God’s truth. You will be free from misery when you receive things as they really are.
